About Novel Development Ghana Limited (NDGL)
Novel Development Ghana Limited (NDGL) is a non-profit organization which was born out of the Novella partnership. This partnership was founded to support a programme of the production of Allanblackia oil in Ghana, Tanzania and Nigeria and at the same time to reduce poverty, promote sustainable enterprise and biodiversity conservation in Africa.
NDGL was incorporated in 2006. NDGL is focused on working with rural farmers to improve their livelihoods through establishing a sustainable business in Allanblackia (AB) seed supply, AB tree planting and AB oil production.
Our Vision
To develop a long term, sustainable and profitable Allanblackia Oil business in Ghana.
Our Objectives
Setting up of a functional AB Supply Chain involving NDGL staff and 3rd party service providers.
To produce good quality AB oil for the market.
To produce good AB materials in order to improve AB based materials for the market.
Our Achievements
In line with our vision, NDGL has set up and is currently running a sustainable Supply Chain for Allanblackia oil in the South-western part of Ghana. NDGL has been producing and exporting Allanblackia oil since 2007. The AB Supply Chain has involved the mobilization of over 3,000 income-earning collectors of Allanblackia seeds. The AB domestication program involves two dedicated rural-based nurseries, collaboration with research agencies and planting of AB trees by local farmers. Since our inception, we have planted over 30,000 Allanblackia trees in collaboration with farmers in the communities where we work. Our Rural-based nurseries are located at Anwona, close to New Edubiase and Dikoto, close to Wassa Akropong.
